Lamido Adamawa’s Absurdity!

True, Nigeria is a conglomeration of strange bedfellows; truly we’ve had too many bickering in this assemblage of differing nation-states called Nigeria.

But it is absurd that Lamido of Adamawa, His Royal Highness Muhammadu Barkindo Mustapha, could mutter the idea of seceding to Cameroon, just because he was not happy that he could not get the usual ‘hallowed’ status he enjoys in his palace at the on-going National Conference. It is similarly irresponsible for Northern Elders Forum (NEF) to voice support for the monarch’s position.

In a widely reported statement, Lamido Adamawa, at the floor of the on-going National Conference stated that: “Jingoism is not the monopoly of anyone. We are here to make Nigeria work…. My kingdom extends into part of Cameroon. In fact there is a state there known as Adamawa state. If anything happens here, I will go there and I will easily assimilate.”

Who cares if he decides to leave today. Why must he wait for any disintegration?

He probably did not know that Cameroon is not as juicy as Nigeria, and that the economy therein would not support the level of corruption-induced privileges and patronages they enjoy in Nigeria.

I, for one, would be too happy to see Lamido Adamawa and his accomplices in the all parts of Nigeria herded to his desired Cameroon, or better still, Somalia, Burundi, Afghanistan, Pakistan and the likes. There they would know that their money, positions and privileges cannot shield them from violence that has been the lot of the poor masses.

It is the likes of these ‘First Class’ Emirs, Obis, Obas, etc. and their political children that rapped and still rapping Nigeria of its resources and tomorrow. Most of those in that National Conference deserve the gallows not presiding over the future of a Nation they conspired to put to the precipice of socio-politico-economic quagmire.

And except for a few individuals, most of these ‘saints’ have nothing to offer the youth of this country. It is nauseating that people who deserve the gallows are now debating our today and tomorrow and getting paid for it.

Quite absurd!
